The Story Behind "LiangYu in Thailand" Blog
Originally, I worked for a Japanese company in Taiwan. When I first relocated to Thailand, I found my job surprisingly easy—so much so that I had extra time to jot down my thoughts and observations about working in Thailand. The blog began as a simple journal documenting my expat experience, but over the past eight years, it has grown into a collection of 130 insightful articles.
During my time in Thailand, I’ve had the unique opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture and uncover fascinating differences between Thai and Taiwanese ways of life. As my blog gained traction, more readers reached out, looking for insights on doing business in Thailand, working in Bangkok, and traveling across the country. I’m thrilled that this platform has become a bridge connecting Taiwan and Thailand, fostering meaningful exchanges.
#Featured in Business Weekly’s Special Report: Must-Know Insights for Working in Thailand
Before moving to Thailand, I was already fluent in Mandarin, English, and Japanese. During my first two years here, I dedicated two hours every evening after work to learning Thai, and now I’m proficient in the language.
As someone who enjoys making connections, I work in market development and sales, which has given me a professional perspective on the Thai market and culture. At the same time, I’ve built strong friendships with both local Thais and fellow expats, allowing me to experience Thailand on a deeper level. Through these relationships, I also get to share the best of Taiwan with people from all over the world.
Every time I chat with Thai colleagues and fellow expats, I can’t help but passionately introduce Taiwan.
We, as overseas professionals, are Taiwan’s most enthusiastic ambassadors.
Expats are cultural ambassadors and proud to be so.”
