Before moving to Thailand, I used to shower multiple times a day while traveling there—it’s just that hot and humid! With all the sweating, laundry services are a must. So, how do expats handle laundry in Thailand? If you're staying long-term, this is something you’ll definitely need!

How Thais View Laundromats?
Many Thai households don’t own washing machines, or they feel that the machines in their rented accommodations don’t clean clothes thoroughly. As a result, most people opt to use self-service laundromats. With this growing trend, Thailand has seen a rise in higher-end laundromats in recent years. These places don’t just offer coin-operated washers and dryers—they also provide additional services like folding your clothes for you. It’s incredibly convenient and thoughtful!
My Experience at a Thai Laundromat
I decided to record my journey of checking out a local laundromat in Thailand. The shop had about 5 washing machines and 4 dryers, and the space was clean and well-maintained. They even offered free Wi-Fi, so I could sit there, enjoy a coffee, and work on my laptop while waiting. If you don’t feel like folding your clothes after they’re done, you can simply ask the staff for help. They’ll give you a laundry service request form, and for a reasonable price, they’ll wash, dry, and fold your clothes for you.
The machines at this laundromat have separate washers and dryers (as shown above), which is a bit outdated. With this type, you must return after washing, take your clothes out, and move them to the dryer—a bit of a hassle. Recently, I’ve noticed many Thai laundromats have upgraded to combo washer-dryer machines. These let you wash and dry in one go, eliminating the need for two trips. Super convenient and my new favorite!
All-in-One Wash, Rinse & Dry Machines
The extra-large ones like this are washer-dryer combos—just go for these!
These machines handle everything in one go—just grab a coffee, take a short break, and your laundry’s done. No need for multiple trips—super convenient!
This store also has washer-dryer combos, super convenient! More and more shops are getting these machines. I always look for laundromats with them because they’re so convenient!
Thailand’s Unique Laundry Scent
Thai laundromats also sell detergents with a signature local fragrance. Even if you use the same fabric softener back home, you won’t quite get that distinct Thai scent.
Translation of Additional Laundry Service Request Forms
If you’re worried about the language barrier, don’t be! You can easily translate the Thai laundry request forms using the Google Translate app.

Note: Some readers mentioned seeing news aboutcoin-operated laundry machines being installed in 7-Eleven stores. However, after visiting several 7-Elevens, I didn’t find any. It seems the partnership might have ended. Your best bet is to use the method above to locate a laundromat.

☎ Reservation Services for Thai Restaurants, Hotels, and Golf
Most reservations for Thai restaurants, itineraries, and vacation apartments in Thailand require a local Thai bank account for booking. (Popular cafes in Thailand like the Maldives-themed Bubble in the Forest Cafe and many unique accommodations outside major cities, such as those in the Pilok area of Kanchanaburi, often do not have online booking and payment mechanisms.)
